Michael Barczak leads the investment consulting and research efforts for Carson Group’s Retirement Plan program. He has been instrumental in constructing Carson’s manager due diligence framework, investment monitoring and selection criteria, lineup construction methodology and fiduciary governance practices.
Michael also serves as the chair of Carson’s Retirement Program Investment Committee and is a member of both the Strategic and Tactical Asset Allocation Committee (STAAC) and the Investment Due Diligence Committee (IDDC). Michael is a CFA® and also holds Series 7 and Series 66 licenses.
Michael was born in Birmingham, Michigan, where he attended Brother Rice high school. He graduated from Denison University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Economics. While at Denison, he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and the varsity swim team, where he earned All-American honors and was a D-III National Champion.
Michael joined the Carson team in October 2023. Prior to that, he spent six years as a senior member of the Investment Research team at Lockton Retirement Services/Creative Planning Retirement Services in their Dallas office. Before that, Michael worked for several RIA firms in Boston, specializing in investment research, portfolio construction and trading.
Michael and his family currently live in Dallas, Texas, where his wife, Nancy, was raised. In his free time Michael enjoys spending time with family, reading and golfing.
